Start with the decision, not the document
Governance becomes practical when it is organised around a real decision, a named owner and the evidence needed to proceed.
Make it practical
- Name the decision that needs to be made.
- Identify who owns it and who contributes.
- Agree what evidence is proportionate to the context.
Policies create a foundation, but teams experience governance through decisions. They need to know what can proceed, what needs review and who has authority.
Starting with the decision makes requirements easier to connect to delivery. Evidence then has a purpose: it supports a clear judgement and remains connected to the reason it was made.
